Secret Valley Wedding Photography

The Secret Valley is a picturesque glamping spot in Somerset, and the venue provides the opportunity for couples and their friends and family to enjoy the wedding get together over a whole weekend of events. I was so excited to photograph this wedding! The couple had planned to exchange their vows in an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by woodland, so we were all hoping for great weather. The outdoor ceremony area is covered by an open marquee, so whilst the weather did behave on the day, it’s great to have that reassurance that an outdoor ceremony can still go ahead on a day with showers.

Wedding Day Preparations

There’s space on-site for getting ready, which always makes for a more relaxed morning. I met the bride and bridesmaids in the Owl Barn, where I was able to photograph makeup and final dress adjustments before heading over to the outdoor wedding ceremony area.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

Whilst my focus during the wedding ceremony is on couples as they exchange their vows, I also photograph guests reactions. These are photos my couples love looking through after the wedding day, as they are full of natural smiles and can feature some gorgeous heartfelt moments.

The guests threw confetti as the happy couple walked back up the aisle towards the drinks reception. Whilst the confetti does need to be biodegradable, it’s great they allow confetti at the Secret Valley - as my couples often want to have this celebratory moment with guests.

Couple Portraits

There are so many gorgeous scenic spots at this wedding venue! We’d had a chat before the wedding day about what spaces to use, so I knew the couple really wanted a few portraits next to the lake, as well as some relaxed and informal photos that really showcased the woodland setting. The venue also has a winery, so we finished up with a few photos amongst the vines.

Drinks Reception

The couple joined their guests at the drinks reception and I photographed candid photos of their family and friends chatting and relaxing before everyone was organised for a big group photo.

Evening Reception

The couple had included lawn games in the evening reception space. These always go down well with wedding guests, children and adults alike! It’s great for photos as well! At this time of day, I’m mainly photographing candid moments of friends and families chatting and relaxing. That rest time between the wedding breakfast and evening reception is a great time for this.

The couple stepped away from the party for a few portraits in the soft evening light. Getting a few portraits during this part of the day adds variety to your final photo collection, and it’s a nice time for couples to have a few minutes together away from guests to relax and catch up.
