Quantock Lakes Wedding Photography

Quantock Lakes is an exclusive-use barn wedding venue set within beautiful Somerset countryside. Blending characterful barns with contemporary spaces, the venue offers indoor and outdoor ceremony options, including its picturesque lake pontoon. With three barns, on-site accommodation and capacity for celebrations from 60 to 250 seated guests, Quantock Lakes will give you plenty of flexibility to create a wedding that feels completely your own.

I love photographing weddings at this venue! The surrounding Somerset landscape and cute venue features provides loads of opportunities for gorgeous photos. It’s also the perfect location for evening sunset and golden hour couple portraits.

Wedding Day Preparations

There’s plenty of space to get ready for the wedding day at Quantock Lakes, but it’s also easy to get between the different venue areas. This versatility and compactness means I can easily photograph different stories of your wedding day morning, including bridal preparation and groomsmen… who appear to have found the childrens play area. If children will be attending your wedding, there’s an area they’ll love as well!

Bridal Prep

Groom Prep

I love capturing candid moments like this. These are the photos my couples love looking through together after their wedding day. I’m pleased to report that all sauits survived the treehouse and swings.

The brides dad arriving in preparation to walk down the aisle with her is something I love to photograph. Whilst this is a candid, unposed moment where I stand back and photograph what happens, I do like to help ensure there are no distractions, so having bridesmaids move any items out of the area means the usual chaos of wedding morning preparations is neatly hidden, so the photos show only the emotions between a proud dad and his daughter whilst bridesmaids and mum look on.

This time is also a great opportunity for a quick group photo before the wedding ceremony. I love to capture group photos that really show everyones personality and natural smiles.

Group Photos

The drinks reception is a great time of the wedding day for those important family photos with parents and relatives. The venue is surrounded by Somerset scenery and features aesthetic wooden exterior, so group photos can be photographed quickly right outside, so that everyone can get back to the drinks reception to relax and enjoy the sunshine. I’ll photograph candid moments of guests throughout your drinks reception. I just blend into the background for this, so that the photos will show relaxed and authentic smiles as everyone chats and enjoys drinks and canapés.

Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

Golden Hour Group Photos

I find that spreading out any organised group photos to different parts of the wedding day leads to a more relaxed vibe and guests spending longer relaxing and enjoying your wedding day. There’s a natural gap that follows the wedding breakfast and upcoming evening reception, and in the summer especially, the light can be dreamy for photos. After the meal and speeches, everyone is relaxed, so when you mix that with gorgeous light and a stunning venue, magic happens! I love how the colour palette of the bridesmaids dresses works so well with the Somerset scenery and golden hour evening light in these photos.

Couple Portraits

Soft, flattering golden hour evening light is perfect for couple portraits, so I do recommend photos at this time to my couples. It’s also a lovely opportunity for couples to have some alone time together away from guests and to just be together in each others company… whilst I photograph these gorgeous moments from a distance of course.

This wedding venue has some perfect sports for wedding day portraits, from the rolling fields in the background to perfectly positioned trees and a swing for some fun moments.

Evening Wedding Reception

Evening Couple Portraits

There was time to photograph a few more portraits of this gorgeous couple in the fading evening light before I left. I love how this venue looks different in different light.
